I am reading Greg Heisler's book, Spirit-led Preaching: The Holy Spirit's Role in Sermon Preparation and Delivery. Here is a quote that resonated with me today.
"Preach one sermon when your heart is not right before the Lord, and you will do everything in your power never to let it happen again. It's one of the worse feelings and experiences in the world. When you preach dirty from harboring sin in your heart, you feel naked, alone, and spiritually flat like someone who has been abandoned. So we must pray before we preach and even while we are preaching" (p.113).
