Life Well Lived
"Death jogs our minds about what's most important. It separates wheat from chaff. Life isn't about money and big houses or fancy cars and titles. It's about family and friends and our relationship with God and whether we love. We can't fit all that on a tombstone, so we carve our names and our dates of birth and death and hope that, somewhere between those two dates, life was well lived."
-Philip Gulley
Today I will conduct the funeral service of a dear saint of God. Cora Pafford was a charter member of Fort Caroline Baptist Church. She was one of the most godly women I have ever known. Anyone who knew her would affirm that her's was a life well lived.
My prayer is that when I am laid to rest it can be said of me, "That was a life well lived." Shouldn't that be your desire too? What will you do today to ensure that yours is a life well lived?
- Do you need to trust Christ as your Lord and Savior (John 3:16-21)?
- Do you need to get back in fellowship with other believers at church (Hebrews 10:24-25)?
- Do you need to restore a family relationship through forgiveness?
- Do you need to seek help for the hurt, habit, or hang-up that keeps you down?
- Do you need to tell your kids that you love them?
- Do you need to make your God and your family your top priorities in life instead of your career?
And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation. Hebrews 9:27-28 (NKJV)
