Did you know that every year our church conducts an outside audit of the previous year’s fiscal activities? An audit considers the financial transactions performed as well as the policies and procedures used in the financial operation of the church. We do this in order to evaluate our procedures and to give you confidence in the way your donations are handled. In fact, we conduct two types of audits.
One type of audit we perform is a church-appointed audit where the treasurer or the chairman of the Finance Team regularly checks to ensure that the church-approved policies are being followed and that actual financial statements and documents are reconciled with accounts, balances, and funds on hand. The Finance Team also meets monthly to review the financial statement and church-approved budget.
The second type of audit occurs once a year and is conducted by a team of auditors not affiliated with the church. This independent audit is comprehensive in nature and results in a report to the church indicating a certification of compliance with generally accepted accounting practices. The report may also show discrepancies or make recommendations for improved accountability. I am so grateful to tell you that every year Fort Caroline Baptist Church has received a clean opinion and certification. There have never been any discrepancies between our reports to you and actuality. The church Finance Team recently received the audit report for fiscal year 2008 from the firm, Kresge, Platt, and Abare, Certified Public Accountants. Once again, our church staff and Finance Team was commended in how we handle God’s money. FCBC is a financially healthy church which seeks to glorify God with the funds you entrust to us. Thank you for your faithful generosity and obedience to the Lord!
