Last Sunday was an historic day in the life of our church as many of our members gave a cash offering and made 3-year commitments to the building fund. There was a spirit of joy and excitement as people willingly offered to the Lord. We are still in a season of commitment, so it is not too late to get in on the miracle! Commitment cards will be available again this Sunday if you would like to be a part of the "Imagine a place..." campaign. The task God has placed before us requires 100% participation from our members and others who love FCBC. Your church needs your commitment now more than ever before!
Here is what God is teaching us during this God-ordained campaign:
1. GIVING DEVELOPS CHRIST-LIKENESS.
God is a giver. The Bible says, “God so loved the world that He gave” (John 3:16). Everything you have is a gift from God. You can give without loving, but you cannot love without giving. To be like God, you've got to learn to become a giver.
2. GIVING DRAWS US CLOSER TO GOD.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.Matthew 6:21 (NKJV)
3. GIVING HELPS US DEFEAT MATERIALISM.
Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. 1 Timothy 6:17-19 (NKJV)
4. GIVING DEEPENS OUR FAITH.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;
Honor the Lord with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase. Proverbs 3:5, 9 (NKJV)
5. GIVING IS A DEPOSIT IN ETERNITY.
Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. 1 Timothy 6:18-19 (NKJV)
6. GIVING PAYS RICH DIVIDENDS.
The generous soul will be made rich, And he who waters will also be watered himself. Proverbs 11:25 (NKJV)
7. GIVING BRINGS US DELIGHT.
Then the people rejoiced, for they had offered willingly, because with a loyal heart they had offered willingly to the Lord; and King David also rejoiced greatly.1 Chronicles 29:9 (NKJV)
